Our Founder’s Story

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the ritual of tea. Over decades, I collected teacups and teapots from around the world — from the quiet elegance of Japanese tea ceremonies to the charm of Western afternoon tea. Each piece became part of my personal story, gathered across travels and treasured for its beauty and meaning.

At 40, with two young children, I found myself at a crossroads. After 15 years of building startups — where entrepreneurship wasn’t just a career but something that ran in my blood — I was burned out. The intensity of tech life, combined with the devotion required of motherhood, left me wondering what was next. But the entrepreneurial spark never left me.

Then one day I asked myself: Why not combine my lifelong passion with my startup experience?

The answer became Hill House Decor.

Starting again as a mother of two wasn’t easy. But my background as a graphic designer, years of learning ikebana floral arranging in Japan, and photography studies across Europe gave me the creative foundation I needed. To me, afternoon tea is not just about food or drink — it’s an aesthetic celebration, a moment worth remembering. I wanted to elevate tea into an experience that delights every sense, where every detail is so thoughtful it deserves a photo.

With my e-commerce background, I envisioned something bold: a service that is not only beautiful but ship-able — an Uber for luxury afternoon tea. Imagine tea, pastries, linens, and fine china delivered to your door, ready to transform an ordinary afternoon into something unforgettable.

This is the heart of Hill House Decor: to make everyday moments extraordinary.

Whether you’re celebrating a milestone, hosting friends, or simply want to pause and savor life — Hill House Decor brings the magic of afternoon tea to your table.
✨ Because every moment is worth celebrating.
